JACKIE KIRBY RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL -
  Mount Olive College assistant cross country/track and field coach Jackie Kirby was released from Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C., Tuesday. Jackie was struck by an automobile January 8 and was hospitalized for two weeks.
While she still has a bit of a road to recovery, her rehab went extremely well and she was able to leave the hospital sooner than originally expected. Jackie was on campus Tuesday evening, first to meet with the Trojan cross country and track and field teams, then to watch the final set of Mount Olive's men's volleyball win over Barton.

THE WYOMING VALLEY STRIDERS 2012 TRIPLE CROWN -
  The Wyoming Valley Striders will continue with their Triple Crown for 2012 that they instituted in 2008.
Top 3 male/female open and masters will receive Gift Certificates of $100, $75, $50
for merchandise from National Running Center. The lowest combined time from the STRIDERS races of "Winters End 4½ miler", "Cherry Blossom 5 Mile Run" and "Summer’s End 10km Run" will determine the winners. BLOOMSBURG RUNNING CLUB IS ONLINE -
  An informal group of runners from the Bloomsburg Area who are interested in improving their capacity for running, whether it be for exercise, recreational or competitive purposes.
General requirements for "membership" include being enthusiastic about the idea of running for enjoyment and living within practical range of the Town of Bloomsburg.
The group will be aimed at running 5K for distance, although member(s) may do less or more depending on their limits. But we hope to push those...
There are NO skill prerequisites, and the only gear you need is a good pair of running shoes. >>> VISIT

WILKES-BARRE RACING NIGHT OUT- PENGUINS GAME, SAVE $5 ON YOUR HARVEYS LAKE RACE REGISTRATION -
  Wilkes-Barre racing will he having "Wilkes Barre Racing night" at the Saturday, February 4th Penguins game at the arena. Runners can get $5 off their Harvey's Lake registration if they attend the game using the form at link below, at http://wilkesbarreracing.com or if they go to the Penguins store and buy the tickets. Penguins tickets include a free hat, free hot dog and free soda! Runners need to send their ticket stub in the mail or bring it to the race registration table.
Ticket pricing is Blue Zone $18, Gold $21, Red $23.

GENERAL REGISTRATION FOR THE 6th ANNUAL VIADUCT TRAIL ULTRAMARATHON IS NOW OPEN-
  The field of entrants will be capped at 30. The event takes place starting in Lanesboro, upstate Northeast PA. and taks place in July. This year the 50 mile event has returned. So take you pick of distances, 50, 100 or 200 miles.

WILKES-BARRE RACING INITIATES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR FOSTER AND ADOPTED KIDS -
  Wilkes Barre Racing has decided to do a "scholarship" program for foster and adopted kids. Wilkes Barre Racing will pay the entry fee for any foster or adopted child from 12 - 18 to ANY NEPA race. All they have to do is contact Wilkes-Barre Racing and send the race application two weeks in advance and they will pay their entry fee. This way kids who otherwise could not afford to run can finally run.
And all foster kids and foster parents will race Wilkes Barre Racing events free in 2012 >>> MORE

LOCAL RUNNERS DO WELL IN NITTANY VALLEY HALF-
  Greg Bassham 7th in his age group reports that Local runners did well in Nittany Valley Half. Mike Kinney finished 2nd in the 50-54 age category. Chris Krall finished 5th. Randy White finished 5th in the 45-49 age group. Carson Ayers also did well.
Luke Watson was the overall winner 1:12.43, womens winner was Olympic hopeful- Rebecca Donaghue in 1:17:25. Top area finishers were 9th, Joseph Hickey of Drums 1:21:27.Nineteenth was Jacob Siegel of Falls 1:23:46, 38th & 40th were Alex Nole of Tunkhannock, and Carson Ayers also from Tunkhannock in 1:27:56. >>> RESULTS
